The perfect blend of Zinfandel, Syrah and Merlot, smooth and flavorful Red blend reveals remarkably rich character and robust depth. The expertly balanced palate offers the bold notes of dark cherry, boysenberry and spice from Zinfandel, layered with the soft blueberry characteristics of Syrah. Merlot’s appealingly plush texture and hints of blackberry add further dimension. Subtle oak influences of mocha and vanilla enhance and support the wine’s elegant appeal. Red pairs wonderfully with a variety of foods, like aged cheeses or tomato-based pastas.
Apothic Description
45% Zinfandel, 30% Syrah, 16% Merlot, 9% Select Red Varieties
Red was our first Apothic release: a daringly original blend of California-grown red grapes that created a phenomenon. After harvest, fruit was carefully handed with a soft touch in the cellar. Grapes were de-stemmed followed by a mostly whole-cluster fermentation. Across all lots, we exercised meticulous temperature control by cold soaking the grapes early and managing heat to maximize the extraction of color and dark fruit notes. A mix of oak was selected for aging to enhance the vanilla, mocha and toffee notes that make Apothic Red uniquely appealing.
