The Arnaldo-Caprai Montefalco Rosso Riserva opens with aromas of wild cherries preserved in spirit, chocolate, violets, vanilla and exotic spices. Full bodied and round, perfectly balanced with vibrant, velvety tannins.
The Arnaldo-Caprai Montefalco Rosso Riserva embodies the bolder spirit of its little brother Montefalco Rosso, with a similar composition of Sangiovese, Sagrantino and Merlot. The special vineyard sites and location for this wine rival textural and body characteristics of even the best Brunello di Montalcino.
70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino, 15% Merlot aged for 20 months in French oak barriques followed by a minimum 6 months aging in bottle.
Grilled cherries, wild herbs and sweet spices define the aromas of this wine. The palate is layered between ripe red berry preserves with notes of sweet hay and dried wildflowers. The wine's tannins are firm but balanced, giving the palate a sturdiness that will pair well with roasted meats, earthy vegetables or aged cheese. -J.P.
