Domaine Michel Niellon Chassagne-montrachet Premier Cru Clos Saint-Jean appears a golden lemon yellow color in the glass. Aromas of citrus, wet stone and a tinge of resin lead to a rich and opulent with medium-bodied flavors that caress the mouth and culminate in a clear, long, vivacious finish.

Domaine Michel Niellon Description

Grapes fermented in stainless steel tanks and near the end of fermentation, the wine is transferred to small oak barrels to ferment dry and complete malolactic fermentation during barrel aging. Batônnage is used sparingly as the wines of Chassagne are already rich.

Aged for 8 to 9 months in 20-30% oak.

This is presently firmly reduced and revealing little so be sure to give it some air if you plan to open a bottle in the next year or so. Otherwise, the rich and generously proportioned medium-bodied flavors possess more power if not quite the same refinement on the impressively long, firm and well-balanced finale.
