This wine has a dense ruby color and elegant aromas of black fruits and grilled almonds. The palate is fruity and decadent with notes of cherry, jammy fruit and chocolate, complemented by long, round tannins.
The "Les Charmes" cuvée partly draws its specificity from the renowned terroir of the locality where the vines are grown. Like all the plots of Domaine Striffling in the Morgon appellation, “Les Charmes” has soil composed mainly of decomposed granitic schists. The vines are on average 30-70 years old. The majority of them are goblet pruned. Guillaume transforms his vines to trellis them and thus allow the development of tillage. Today, the vines and wines of this cuvée are HVE certified. The process of conversion to organic farming is underway across the entire estate.
The grapes were harvested by hand and de-stemmed. A 20-day maceration followed to allow extraction of tannins and increase the aromatic power. Depending on the vintage, the wine is aged in barrels for nine to 18 months in barrels of five wines.
Fermented in barrique, this wine is rich and already smoothly textured. With big tannins and ripe black fruits, it has density and a firm structure. The wine conveys weight and definite aging potential. Drink from 2025. Cellar Selection -R.V.
