Villages-level vineyard ‘Meix’ sits west of the village upslope, touching premier cru ‘Pucelles’ on its western border (Bienvenue-Batard Montrachet also neighbors ‘Pucelles.’) More intensity and more depth, with characteristic Puligny herbs and energy. A ‘meix’ is a medieval French word that describes a rural home with multiple buildings, that adjoins a garden or orchard.
Cool and airy aromas include those of acacia blossom and various white orchard fruit scents that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. I like both the texture and underlying tension of the delicious if not especially dense middleweight flavors that possess the sophisticated mouthfeel of a quality Puligny before terminating in a youthfully austere and sneaky long finale. This is a quality villages and worth checking out. Outstanding Drink: 2027+
