This full-bodied Syrah shows robust, fruit-forward aromas of blueberry, chocolate, thyme, and spice box accentuated with hints of violet, sage, and anise. Juicy, dark fruit flavors laced with spice reveal themselves on the velvety palate with an immensely pleasurable mouthfilling finish.
78% Syrah, 18% Grenache, 4% Mourvedre sourced from the Stone Tree, Estate Seven Hills, Bacchus, Candy Mountain, Eritage, and Summit View vineyards.
Each lot was hand-harvested ripe and gently crushed into 1.5-ton stainless steel fermenters. The fruit was gently handled throughout the winemaking process using hand punch downs and gravity-assisted movements. Stems were added back into 35% of the ferment to help build a smooth tannin profile and stabilize the color. The wine was cleanly racked to a carefully selected blend of French, American, and Hungarian oak barrels, 15% new, and barrel-aged for 18 months.
Blueberries, dried herbs, plums and Sichuan peppercorns on the nose of this syrah-dominant GSM blend. It’s supple and full-bodied, with lovely soft tannins accompanying the succulent and spicy fruit. 78% Syrah, 18% Grenache and 4% Mourvedre. Drink now or hold.
Here’s a Syrah, with 18% Grenache and 4% Mourvèdre that would like to take you on a picnic. The journey begins with aromas of dusty blackberries picked roadside and notes of rose petals and pine wood. The flavors are a sweet combination of cherry pie, pie crust and Madagascar vanilla. I’d suggest breaking out the picnic blanket and heading to the great outdoors with this wine. -M.A.
