Aromas of plum, cherry, and crushed cranberry are lifted and concentrated on the nose, complemented by light lavender notes and hints of spice. You will find it to be rich and silky, with vibrant red fruit flavors, and subtle notes of earthiness and warm spice. The finish builds on the back palate, a signature of all Rombauer wines.

Enjoy with Mushroom Ravioli and Terriyaki Grilled Shrimp.

Rombauer Description

After years of customers asking for a Rombauer Pinot Noir, we are thrilled to present our inaugural vintage. We tasted examples from appellations up and down the west coast, ultimately identifying the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA in Monterey County as the premier region to make our Pinot Noir.

We are proud to work with several renowned vineyards, all of which produce outstanding single variety Pinot Noirs on their own. These vineyards, Garys’, Sierra Mar, Lemoravo, Rosella’s, and Soberanes, represent the best of the Santa Lucia Highlands. We took these individual components and blended them into the final Rombauer wine.

100% Pinot Noir aged for 10 months in French oak (30% new).

Wine Enthusiast: 92 Points

Clean and fresh aromas of black raspberry are enlivened by cola and minty herb on the nose of this bottling, the first Pinot Noir by this well-known Chardonnay and Zinfandel producer. There's tannic heft to the palate and a persistent acidity that cuts through the plush strawberry and raspberry flavors. -M.K.

Wine Advocate: 90 Points

Produced in conjunction with consultant Adam Lee (ex Siduri), Rombauer's first vintage of Pinot Noir is a rather delicate, fruit-forward offering. Sourced from several vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands, the 2021 Pinot Noir is medium ruby in color, with floral and herbal highlights to the strawberry and cherry fruit. Despite spending a year in one-third new French oak, it's not oaky at all but medium to full-bodied, silky-textured and mouthwatering on the finish. Anticipated Maturity: 2023-2028
