Chénas cuvée P’tit Co Les Brureaux is a garnet color. This cuvée has an impressive bouquet of violets with fruity and spicy notes. It’s well-wrapped tannins are characteristic of the appellation.
Anita Kuhnel is a former professional cyclist who launched her eponymous domaine with the 2015 vintage. The winery is located in Chénas, a stone’s throw from the Fleurie border and the renowned Poncié vineyard, and today encompasses 18 hectares spread among the crus of Chénas, Fleurie, Morgon, and Moulin-a-Vent.
“Cuvée P’tit Co” comes from a 45-year-old parcel of Gamay situated at 265 meters altitude in soils of pebbly quartz. With its cool northeasterly exposition and lighter soils, this vineyard produces a charming, pretty wine of delicately articulated spice and gentle tannins. Anita employs whole-cluster semi-carbonic fermentation in cement for this cuvée, followed by six months of elevage, also in cement vats.
Crafted with whole clusters and aged in cement tanks, the 2023 Chénas Cuvée P'tit Co Les Brureaux opens with inviting aromas of chocolate, black cherry and baking spices. Medium to full-bodied and with ripe acidity, the wine is rounded and voluminous, carried gracefully across the palate. The smooth-coated, woven tannins conform to the wine's structure, building gradually to a focused finish that reveals a twist of orange zest, underpinned by subtle graphite salinity. Drink 2025-2033
